Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, B.C. is pleased to welcome several new personnel to its dynamic team.

Michael Szuk has been appointed as the College’s Registrar. Szuk, who has been filling the role on an interim basis since September, comes with a wealth of knowledge and a broad experience base. He has been on staff at Western Pentecostal Bible College in Abbotsford since the early 1990s and is currently working towards the completion of his Ph.D. in New Testament Studies. In addition to being an avid reader and book collector, Michael has a passion for teaching, is a gifted musician and enjoys travelling.

Dr. Lou Sawchenko began as the new Director of Development in March. Sawchenko earned his Ph.D. in Administration from the University of Alberta and has served in a variety of roles, including President of Millar College of the Bible in Pambrun, Sask.; Vice-President for University Enterprises and Associate Professor of Strategy and General Management at Trinity Western University; and, most recently, general manager at Fraserway RV Group of Companies in Abbotsford. Lou was also campaign manager for recently elected Abbotsford Mayor Mary Reeves. Lou and wife Marilyn live in Abbotsford and have two grown children.

Doug Epp will begin as Director of Service Learning in August 2003. Doug’s new duties will include overseeing the students’ engagement in service learning throughout their studies at Columbia, providing leadership to students and supervisors, and working collaboratively with faculty. Doug has served as pastor of Crossroads Community Church in Chilliwack, B.C. since 1994 and has a heart for mentoring. Over the past year, Doug has also been moderator of Mennonite Church B.C. Doug is married to Sandy and enjoys golfing, fishing, camping with his family and watching sports.
