After 18 years of service in Mennonite Brethren mission work, Ethel Goertzen has left her role as assistant in the Winnipeg office of MBMS International, the global mission agency of Mennonite Brethren churches in Canada and the United States. On Feb. 1, she took a post with the Canadian MB Conference, a few doors down within the same office.

During her time at MBMS International, Ethel worked with two general directors, four finance directors and two area directors, and held a range of duties. She also built up a team of volunteers that continues to assist the agency in large office tasks.

“Ethel has a great sense of humour and showed tremendous commitment to the agency,” said Gerry Hildebrand, the agency’s area director based in Winnipeg. “She was a delight to work with.”

Also effective Feb. 1, Yvonne Heinrichs has taken over Goertzen’s duties as constituency relations assistant. In her role, Heinrichs is a key contact between the agency and churches in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.
