Youth Mission International has sent out three Trek teams for the 2002–2003 year. The teams, comprised of post-high school young adults, serve for one year. After a two-month orientation in Abbotsford, B.C., the teams will serve at their assigned location from November 4, 2002 to June 15, 2003, before returning to Abbotsford for a one-week debriefing. YMI is the youth discipling arm of MBMS International, the Mennonite Brethren missions agency.
1. The Brazil team is working with Vic and Marty Wiens, MBMS International missionaries in Sao Paulo. This team consists of (l–r) Justin Aase (Ferndale, Wash., Good News Fellowship Church), Tracy Penner (Altona, Man., Altona Evangelical Mennonite Mission Church), Sarah Drury (Abbotsford, Wellspring Christian Fellowship Church) and Ben Froese (Abbotsford, South Abbotsford MB Church).
2. The Ecuador Team is working with Ernesto Cardenas, director of SEMBRAR a Global Disciples Training program in Guayaquil. The team consists of Christi Flagg (Owasso, Okla., Westport MB Church), Jacalyn Woodring (Pitt Meadows, B.C., Willingdon Church), Sharon Froese (Winnipeg, Westwood Community Church), Kevin Rempel (Richmond, B.C., Culloden MB Church) and Alberto Jaramillo (Coquitlam, B.C., Eagle Ridge Bible Fellowship).
3. The Edmonton Team is working with Ray Wiens at the Edmonton church plant, Summerside Community Church. The team consists of Daronne Dobni (Abbotsford, Central Heights Church), Jennifer Chapman (Fresno, Calif., University Vineyard), Luke Haidle (Mitchell, S.D., First United Methodist Church), Rebekah Hamer (Stratford, Ont., Faith Bible Church) and Tobi Farrell (Kitchener, Ont., Brussels Mennonite Fellowship Church).
