A number of historical Mennonite books have been received recently.

 | The Pax Story Service in the Name of Christ. 1951-1976. Calvin W. Redekop. Telford, Pa.: Pandora Press, 2001.
|

During the Second World War, many Mennonites served in Civilian Public Service as an alternative to going to war. Following the war, many Mennonites wanted to help the war-torn countries, and so Mennonite Central Committee began a program of helping in the rebuilding process. The Pax program began with the Korean War and ended with the Vietnam War. During those years, 1200 people, mostly young American men, served in projects in many parts of the world.

 | The Story of the Early Mennonite Brethren (1860-1869) Reflections of a Lutheran Churchman. John B. Toews, editor. Winnipeg, Man.: Kindred Productions, 2002.
|

In 1860, a Lutheran magistrate, Alexander K. Brune, was appointed by the Ministry of the Interior in Russia to investigate the schism between the Mennonite Brethren and the Mennonite Church. This book contains the translated documents and provides a graphic insight in the Russian Mennonite religious world of the 1860s.

 | Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia The story of Abram Dueck and his colleagues. 1911-1917. Lawrence Klippenstein, Jacob Dick. Kitchener, Ont.: Pandora Press, 2002. $20.00.
