Abbotsford, B.C.
Ghanaian king featured at mission weekend

A Christian tribal king from a West African country was the keynote speaker at this year’s Missions Focus weekend in May at Northview Community Church in Abbotsford, B.C.

King Aygeman Kodom IV, ruler of Nkoranza in Ghana, was in Abbotsford April 30 to May 7. He spoke at the church’s four weekend services, explaining the needs of the almost one million people under his jurisdiction. Many people in the 700 villages in his domain are in need of clean drinking water, medical supplies and school materials. The king also toured schools, hospitals, an elderly care home and food production facilities in the area.

At a special offering, the church donated the funds for five wells. The Discoveryland Sunday school presented Kodom with hundreds of school supply packages for the children of Nkoranza.

Plans to bring the Jesus film to the Brong–Ahafo people in Kodom’s realm are in process. Cooperating on the project are Campus Crusade for Christ, the producers of the film; Northview Church; and Christians in Action (Canada), a mission agency that currently has workers in Ghana.
