Previous | Next Winnipeg, Man. Leadership development a priority for Conference

The Canadian MB Conference has chosen leadership development as one of its three priorities for ministries. In partial fulfillment of this mandate, Conference leaders will engage in three initiatives this year: A mentoring conference for pastors; a series of open space events for young leaders; and helping women recognize and develop their leadership gifts.

The goal of these initiatives is to create an environment where leaders are actively discerned, developed and empowered to use their potential for church leadership in planting and in established churches.

A mentoring conference for pastors will take place at Columbia Bible College, Abbotsford, B.C., March 14, 2002, with John Poortenga of the Leadership Development Network. This is by invitation of the B.C. MB Conference as part of its Spring Networking Day.

Three Young Leaders Summits have been scheduled for April 16 and 17, 2002 in British Columbia and April 24 in Manitoba. David Wiebe, Canadian MB Conference executive director, will facilitate these gatherings in an open space forum.

The Conference has become a partner with the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada in the Leading Women Conference, which will be held in Toronto February 2123, 2002. The Leading Women Conferences web site is [www.leadingwomen2002.com]. Leaders from across the Conference have been responding positively to the challenge of sending women to this event. from a news release
