“We can’t know God unless He speaks to us. If we are made in God’s image, it’s natural to think He would speak to us. So I started reading the Bible. When I got to Kings and Chronicles, it really hit me that this was God’s Word. This was history, but not from the point of view of the kings and priests; it was telling me how corrupt they were; it told how the prophets failed, not how they triumphed. It was history from the point of view of God.”
