PrideVision TV, Canada’s first television channel dedicated to homosexual, bisexual and transsexual issues, is set to air Sept. 7 on digital cable and satellite. Toronto-based Headline Media Group claims that one in 10 people are homosexual with high numbers living in urban centres. However, a recent Leger Marketing poll showed that only 2.6% of Canadians reported ever having a sexual relationship with a person of the same sex. Religious groups say they find it discriminatory that Canada’s airwaves regulator, the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission, allows PrideVision to air, but refuses some religious broadcasters.
