The two Chinese Mennonite Brethren churches in Venezuela celebrated their 10th anniversaries this spring La Cruz in the city of Puerto la Cruz on Sunday, March 25 and Gracia de Dios in the city of Caracas on Sunday, April 1. More than 200 people participated in the celebrations pastors and members from other local churches, representatives of the four other Chinese churches in Venezuela, and founding pastor Miller Zhuang and his family. Ten years ago, Zhuang came to Venezuela and planted both churches, with the support of the Chinese MB churches in Canada and assistance from MBMS International.

The two churches are now in a new stage. With no pastor in the churches, lay leaders are taking responsibility and, in spite of their limitations and lack of experience, are experiencing Gods love, power, grace and mercy as they grow and mature and make plans to move ahead.

The churches expressed gratitude for the support and prayers of the 14 Mennonite Brethren Chinese churches in British Columbia. Christians from Vancouver, New York and New Jersey have come to Venezuela to assist the churches through short-term mission trips. Over the years, Canadian MB pastors Miller Zhuang, Enoch Wong, Keynes Kan, Owen Leung, David Poon, Isaac Chang and David Chan have travelled to Venezuela to minister in these churches. Ana Nip
