Dan Schroeder has resigned as youth pastor at Mountain Park Community Church in Abbotsford, B.C., effective at the end of August, after serving for four-and-half-years. His wife Heather served with him until their first child was born. Previously, Dan worked for BC Tel as a cable splicer for 10 years; Heather was youth pastor at Bellingham (Wash.) Christian Reformed Church for two years. Dan has studied at Briercrest Bible College in Caronport, Sask. and Northwest Baptist Theological College in Langley, B.C. He is currently enrolled at Regent College in Vancouver. Heather has a B.A. in Christian education from Wheaton College. The Schroeders have two children, Carissa, 3, and Nathaniel, 1. They are seeking the Lords will for the future.
Henry and Esther Penner began serving as half-time interim pastor couple at Parkland Community Church in Yorkton, Sask. in July. Previously, he was a high school teacher and guidance counsellor for about 30 years in Alberta and Saskatchewan. He was dean of students at Bethany Bible Institute in Hepburn, Sask., 198086. He has also done interim pastoring at Hepburn MB Church and Lendrum MB Church in Edmonton and has been a lay minister in various churches. He has a B.Th. from MB Bible College in Winnipeg and a B.Ed., a graduate diploma in counselling and an M.Ed. from the University of Alberta in Edmonton. The Penners have four children and 10 grandchildren.

Lanigan (Sask.) Christian Fellowship held a commissioning service for associate pastor couple Keith and Jennie Derksen on June 3. Church moderator Wayne Schmidt expressed joy that after much prayer and planning the Derksens could be welcomed into the church. Ralph Gliege, Saskatchewan MB Conference minister, encouraged the congregation to pray and care for the Derksens. Pastor Steve White expressed eagerness to work alongside the Derksens. The Derksens will be resource people for junior youth and do the main planning for senior high youth.
John Emmons resigned as senior pastor of Discovery Community Church in Campbell River, B.C., effective in February, after serving for seven years. Previously, he was associate pastor at Willingdon Church, Burnaby, B.C., for five years, taught high school at Pacific Union College in Angwin, Calif. for four years, planted Tri-Valley Faith Church in Pleasanton, Calif. for two-and-a-half years and was senior pastor of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church in Richmond, B.C. for a year. He has a B.Sc. from Pacific Union College and an M.Div. from North American Baptist Seminary in Sioux Falls, S.D. He and his wife Diane are seeking the Lords will for the future.
Tim Clark completed his ministry in an interim role at Discovery Community Church in Campbell River, B.C., effective June 30, after serving for four months. Prior to this, he was associate pastor at the church, a position he began in September 2000. Previously, he was associate pastor at Westside Community Church in Morden, Man. for six years, was associate pastor in a Fellowship Baptist church in Ladner, B.C. for four years and was youth pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Vancouver for one-and-a-half years. He has a B.R.E. from Northwest Baptist Theological College. He and his wife Roxy have three sons, Justin, 12, Jared, 10, and Jordan, 6. They are seeking the Lords will for the future.
Gil Dueck served a summer pastoral internship at Coaldale (Alta.) MB Church May 26 to Aug. 3. He is planning to study this fall at MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. He has a B.A. from Bethany Bible Institute in Hepburn, Sask., and has studied at the University of Lethbridge and Briercrest Biblical Seminary in Caronport, Sask. He is married to Shelley, who works full-time with people with disabilities.
Following the death of Peter J. Klassen, lead pastor at Clearbrook MB Church in Abbotsford, B.C., on Sunday, June 10, interim pastoral arrangements were made at a church business meeting on June 25. Associate pastor Jay Neufeld moves to the role of interim senior pastor until the end of this year, when he retires; Art Isaac will become part-time associate pastor; and Eldon DeFehr is continuing as minister of music.
Laura Snyder, a member of Waterloo (Ont.) MB Church, has been awarded one of five Canadian Mennonite University Leadership Entrance Awards. The scholarship, equivalent to free tuition for one year, is given to those students who have demonstrated strong character and leadership abilities, high academic standing and noteworthy participation in school, community and church. Synder is a graduate of Waterloo Collegiate Institute, was a co-leader of Interscholastic Christian Fellowship, served on the leadership team of her youth group, planned to attend a world Bible quiz competition in Chicago in June, organized a daycare at her church and was co-treasurer and manager of a Christian coffee house for two-and-a-half years. Her goal is to work with Mennonite Central Committee, World Vision or a development-focused arm of the government.
Kristin Rowling (l) and Danielle Rowling received awards during the closing night of the Pioneer Girls program at Port Rowan (Ont.) MB Church on April 25. Kristin was presented with the Trailblazers Highest Honour Award by her leader Lorraine Wiebe. Danielle was presented the Pathfinders Highest Honour Award by club chairperson Marlene Teigrob. Kristin received the Pathfinders Highest Honour Award in 1999. Both girls also received a yellow rose for their achievements.

The Discoveryland childrens program at Northview Community Church in Abbotsford, B.C. recently raised $1,800 to provide a years supply of lunches for children with special needs at a school in Bekabad, Uzbekistan. The money is being sent to a Christian relief organization helping in that country. Childrens pastor Vic Schellenberg said the children were surprised by the amount they were able to raise for the school. He said they discovered the fun of working together to help others.

Hillside Christian Fellowship Church in Beechy, Sask. has baptized and welcomed seven new members into its fellowship: Kristian Danroth and Darla Hermanson on Jan. 16, 2000, Melissa Danroth, Ehren Hermanson and Diana Hanke on Sept. 3, 2000 and Mary Bigler and Coy Schellenberg on Jan. 28, 2001.

Dalhousie MB Community Church in Calgary baptized and welcomed five new members into its fellowship on June 24: Fiona Bensler, Shawnti Enns, Kari Friesen, Eric Pauls and Jeninne Prohl.
