Winnipeg, Man.
Fundraising consulting firm retained for National Youth Conference

The Canadian MB Conference Board of Christian Education Ministries has retained Harry Olfert Fundraising Consulting Services Inc. of Winnipeg to a part-time contract for the National Youth Conference scheduled for Calgary next January.

Harry Olfert Fundraising Consulting Services will act as a consultant, assisting CEM in raising support for NYC ’02. The contract will run from April 2001 until January 2002.

Sharon Johnson, CEM executive director, stated, “Balancing our priorities of creating a spiritually significant event that is affordable for youth and their non-Christian friends, and doing so with excellence, requires fundraising in addition to registration fees.”

In operation for 10 years, Harry Olfert Fundraising Consulting Services has served as a consultant on projects for various groups, including Steinbach (Man.) Christian Schools, Good Neighbours Seniors Centre and Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg, Mennonite Heritage Village of Steinbach, Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary of Fresno, Calif., Golden Voices Orchestra of Manitoba and the Canadian Pops Orchestra.

NYC ’02 (formerly Banff) is a triennial event that is expected to draw over 1,500 youth ages 14-18 from Mennonite Brethren churches and communities across Canada and parts of the US. Under the theme “Oxygen” (from Acts 17:28), NYC ’02 is a venue in which youth are being encouraged to bring friends for a time of recreation, relationship building and an opportunity to encounter Christ. This year’s convention will be held in Calgary from January 3-6, 2002. More information can be obtained by visiting NYC ’02’s Web site, www.nyc02.com.
