Blake Wagner completed his ministry as three-quarter-time senior pastor at Foothills Community Church in Pincher Creek, Alta. at the end of December, after serving for four-and-a-half years. He is currently operating a computer-based business. Previously, he served with Youth With A Mission in Japan and the Philippines for a-year-and-a-half. He has a B.Th. from Prairie Bible College in Three Hills, Alta. He and his wife Lynda have three children, Karemi, 12, Lorna, 11, and Nolan, 8. The Wagners are open to further ministry.



George Reimer has been serving as part-time interim pastor at Foothills Community Church in Pincher Creek, Alta. since Feb. 1. He retired in 1989 after 40 years of ministry. Previously, he pastored Sawyer (N.D.) MB Church for 11 years, pastored Pincher Creek MB Church for seven years and served with the Saskatchewan MB Conference home missions board for 11 years. His first wife Elma died in 1994. He is now married to Clara.



Carl Ibbotson completed his ministry as youth pastor at Tofield (Alta.) Gospel Church at the end of March, after serving for five years. Previously, he was a driver’s education instructor in Brooks, Alta. for four years and was youth pastor at Strathmore (Alta.) Alliance Church for one year. He has a B.R.E. from Prairie Bible College in Three Hills, Alta. He and his wife Terryll have five children, Markus, 8, Keisha, 6, Dayton, 5, Marika, 3, and Arista, 11 months, and are expecting their sixth child in June. They are seeking the Lord’s will for the future.



Linden (Alta.) MB Church held an installation service April 8 for lead pastor couple Konrad and Karen Loewen. Konrad previously was the church’s associate pastor for two-and-a-half years. He has a B.R.S. from MB Bible (Concord) College in Winnipeg, a B.A. from the University of Winnipeg and an M.Div. from MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. The Loewens have a daughter, Samantha, 1. Alberta MB Conference Minister Abe Konrad led the installation service.

Paul Heidebrecht of Vancouver has been awarded an Elmer Ediger Memorial Scholarship by Mennonite Health Services of Goshen, Ind. The scholarship of $1,300 US is for the 2001-02 academic year for studies in health-related service to people in the fields of mental health, counselling or developmental disabilities. Heidebrecht is pursuing a master’s degree in social work from the University of British Columbia. He is a member of Bakerview MB Church, Abbotsford, B.C.



Fifteen people participated in an orientation held at Mennonite Central Committee headquarters in Akron, Pa. March 6-16. Seven are beginning overseas assignments; eight are beginning assignments in North America. Corinne Peters of Winkler, Man., most recently of Winnipeg, began a two-year assignment as an administrative assistant at the MCC Manitoba office in Winnipeg in January. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Manitoba. Previously, she was a counsellor and night supervisor for SALT in Zambia. She attends The Meeting Place in Winnipeg.



Elmer Thiessen began serving as executive director of Camp Arnes in Manitoba on Dec. 4, 2000. Previously, he worked for Jorey Electric in Winnipeg for two years, served with Africa Inter-Mennonite Mission in Burkina Faso for 11 years, the last six years as team coordinator, was business manager for Camp Arnes for three years and worked with Mennonite Central Committee in Chad for three years. He has a civil engineering technologist diploma from Red River Community College in Winnipeg, a B.R.S. from Steinbach (Man.) Bible College and a B.A. from Providence College in Otterburne, Man. He and his wife Jeannette have three children, Donovan, 17, Phoebe, 13, and Michael, 12.

Pines Bible Camp Board member Dennis Tournemille (left) presents a stained-glass artwork to Jake Bekker for his years of service at the Camp. In 1963, Bekker walked the North Fork, the property overlooking the river near Grand Forks, B.C. with a group of men looking for a suitable place to build a children’s camp. From the first camp held in 1965 until March 2001, Bekker has held various positions on the Executive Board, acting as treasurer for the last 26 years. The artwork depicting the Camp’s theme was created by Carolynn Smith. Bekker is a member of Gospel Chapel MB Church, Grand Forks.
