A new Web site on movies and faith has links to movie information and reviews. Prepared by Gordon Matties, associate professor of biblical studies and theology at Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg, the site (www.cmu.ca/library/faithfilm.html) features “Finding movie reviews”, “Christian resources: Web sites”, “Magazines, journals, etc.”, “Sex, language & violence”, “The Best of the Web”, “Other resources”, and “Articles”. On the site Matties states, “My hope is that these sites will contribute to serious reflection on the intersection of film and faith.”

Chelsea Road Productions Inc. of Burlington, Ont., is the first and only Canadian company producing exclusively Christian animated films. Bruce Stacey, president, producer and director, has 20 years of multimedia production experience. He and his team have worked on projects such as Pocahontas 2, Donald Duck and Beetlejuice. The Prodigal Son, a $2.8 million animated feature presentation at the youth pavilion at Expo 2000, ran for six months, and was viewed by nearly a million visitors. Gener8xion Entertainment of California plans to make the film into a full-length feature. Chelsea Road Productions is currently working on three half-hour fully animated movies in “The God Print” series for Cook Communication Ministries.

Doxa, the popular contemporary worship event in Abbotsford, B.C., has returned after taking a year off. Doxa leader Vija Manuel closed the event Jan. 4, 1999, after it had run for three years (see MBH, Oct. 8, 1999). At that point, he expected that Doxa would not return, except for occasional events. However, in this past summer, Doxa returned for 11 weeks. After a further evaluation, it was decided to continue Doxa on an ongoing basis, and it ran for another nine weeks. After a Christmas break, Doxa resumed Jan. 7, 2001. The event is held Sunday nights at 8:30 in Central Heights MB Church, attracting crowds of 1000-1500.
