Elizeu DaSilva
Elton DaSilva is serving as part-time senior pastor of Christian Family Centre in Winnipeg, a church that is affiliated with the Manitoba MB Conference. He also works as a financial advisor. He leads the Sunday English worship services. Previously, he was a youth pastor at Portuguese (Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada) Church in Edmonton for seven-and-a-half years and was an associate pastor at International Worship Centre in Edmonton for one year. He has a B.Th. from a Bible college in Belém, Brazil and has taken business courses in Edmonton. He and his wife Ana have two daughters, Jessica, 7, and Jasmine, 1. Elizeu DaSilva (father to Elton) is serving as associate pastor at Christian Family Centre, where he leads the Spanish worship service on Friday nights and the Portuguese worship service on Monday nights. Previously, he was senior pastor at Portuguese (Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada) Church in Edmonton for seven-and-a-half years, was senior pastor at International Worship Centre in Edmonton for one year, was the part-time manager of a gas station in Brazil, was part-time associate pastor of a nondenominational church in Belém, Brazil for four-and-a-half years and pastored a number of Assemblies of God congregations in Brazil for 10 years. He has a B.Th. from Assemblies of God Bible College in Brazil and a B.Adm. from the Federal University of Brazil in Belém. He and his wife Leude have three children and two grandchildren. Family Christian Centre is planning to add a fourth service, a Bible study for believers, on Wednesday nights. The Centre uses wireless translation devices during its services.

Konrad Loewen began serving as lead pastor of Linden (Alta.) MB Church on Feb. 1, after serving as associate pastor at this church for two-and-a-half years. He has a B.R.S. from MB Bible (now Concord) College in Winnipeg, a B.A. from the University of Winnipeg and an M.Div. from MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. He and his wife Karen have a daughter, Samantha, 1.

Greg Harris began serving as pastor of administration at Northview Community Church, Abbotsford, B.C., on Dec. 1. He replaces Randy Ens, who is now working in Ohio. Previously, Harris was pastor of administration at Evangel Church in Kelowna, B.C. for eight years and worked in commercial lending at a bank for nine years. He has a bachelor of business administration degree from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla. and a master of business administration degree from the University of Alberta and is a member of the National Association of Church Business Administrators (NACBA). He and his wife Patricia have three children, Jocelyn, 7, Michele, 6, and Marika, 2.

North Kildonan MB Church in Winnipeg held a commissioning service Jan. 21 for Roland and Irene Marsch as half-time pastor couple of German ministries. Previously, Roland served as missionary-at-large with MBMS International for a year, was a church planter in Dresden, Germany for two-and-a half years, pastored Portage Ave. MB Church in Winnipeg for seven years; was Canadian MB Conference minister for four years; pastored North Kildonan MB Church for seven-and-a-half years; pastored the MB church in Neuweid, Germany for 12 years; and pastored Grassy Lake (Alta.) Community Church for two years.



Bob Friesen has resigned as senior pastor of Broadway MB Church in Chilliwack, B.C., effective at the end of July, after serving for 20 years. He previously was an associate pastor at Bakerview MB Church in Abbotsford, B.C. for two years. He has a B.Sc. from Simon Fraser University and an M.Div. from MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. He and his wife Joy have two grown children, Cynthia and Jeremy. The Friesens are seeking the Lord’s direction for the future.

Ted Klassen has resigned as senior pastor of Hyde Creek Community Church in Port Coquitlam, B.C. after serving as pastor for 12 years. He has accepted a call to pastor Culloden MB Church in Vancouver. Previously, he was a high school teacher for nine years in the Port Coquitlam area, pastored College Drive Community Church in Lethbridge, Alta. for six years and was associate pastor at Willingdon Church in Burnaby, B.C. for three years. He has a B.A. and a teaching certificate from the University of British Columbia and an M.A. from MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. He and his wife Pat have three children and three grandchildren.



Jim Vincent has resigned as business manager at Bethany Bible Institute in Hepburn, Sask., effective April 30, after serving for almost four years. Previously, he was an accounting manager at Briercrest Bible College in Caronport, Sask. for 11 years and worked in various accounting positions in Ontario for a number of years, including 13 years at Architectural Woodwork in the Hamilton area. He has a certificate in furniture design from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto and a CMA. He and his wife Jean have five children and four grandchildren. The Vincents are planning to move to the Ottawa Valley.



Kale Pride completed his ministry as youth pastor at Hyde Creek Community Church in Port Coquitlam, B.C. Sept. 1, after serving for four-and-a-half years. He has a B.A. from Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, B.C. He and his wife Michelle have a son, Harrison, 2. Kale is planning to return to school.



Eckhard Goerz has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Eden Health Care Services, based in Winkler, Man., effective April 2. He will replace Ken H. Loewen, who is retiring after seven years. Goerz is currently community programs consultant in the long-term care division of Manitoba Health. Previously, he was a program specialist with Manitoba Health, was director of social work at Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg and Charles Camsell Hospital in Edmonton and was a social worker with the Children’s Aid Society in central Manitoba. Eden offers a variety of mental health and counselling services and is a partnership between Manitoba Health, the Regional Health Authority of Central Manitoba and most of the Mennonite conferences in Manitoba, including the Manitoba MB Conference.
