Hepburn, Sask.
Youth discover how it feels to be free

“This is how it feels to be free” was the theme of this year’s Youth Advance retreat held February 2-4 at Bethany Bible Institute in Hepburn, Sask.

The assembled group of 319 people included 268 youth from grades 9-12 and 51 youth workers, representing 80 churches across Canada.

Youth Advance is geared towards inspiring youth in their spiritual journey and exposing them to opportunities at the school.

Randy Friesen, director of Youth Mission International, spoke about a life of freedom in Christ. About 60 people indicated that they made spiritual decisions or commitments over the weekend.

Highlights included the progressive Italian supper and theatre presentation of “Meet Me at Luigi’s”, the Free Wheeling Main Event with sumo suits, snow cones, caricature drawings, a concert by the Edmonton band Whoville and the classic Saturday “Hockey Night in Hepburn”. Youth also chose from a variety of sports, outdoor hot tubs, mural paintings and workshops on drama, dating and devotions. Many requested a favourite song from the simulation radio station, Youth Advance Radio FM 45.3 The Fish.
