With the retirement of Walter Unger as President of Columbia Bible College only five months away, the Board of Directors, on February 6, 2001, approved the appointment of Dr. Ron Penner and Merv Boschman as Interim Presidential Team members. Currently both are members of the administrative team at Columbia, Penner as Academic Dean and Boschman as Director of Development. As members of the Interim Presidential team, Penner will be responsible for academics and administration, and Boschman for development and constituency relations. The Board is confident that with this team in place the vision, leadership and ministry of the College will remain strong and effective. The appointment is open-ended for a one-to-two-year period beginning July 1, 2001. The Board is continuing its search for a President.

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Walter Unger as President Emeritus of Columbia Bible College, effective July 1, 2001. Unger began a teaching career at the College in 1969; served as Academic Dean 1970-1978 and 1980-1985; and served as Interim President 1978-1980 and as President since 1985. He will retire as President at the end of June. We are grateful to God for Dr. Unger’s faithful and visionary leadership and look forward to his ongoing contribution as President Emeritus. Unger will serve the College in constituency relations and teaching and through his writing ministry.
