Nothing important

“Nothing important ever happens around here.”

How often we hear young and old alike complain of boredom and lack of zest, nothing really happening in their lives. Having no driving purpose in life, such people

fail to see their opportunities and privileges. They choose to believe others achieved through special privileges and abilities.

I can almost hear a couple of rabbinical students conversing at the inn that first Christmas.

“Anything new tonight?” asks one.

“Nothing much,” responds the other, “except a young peasant girl delivered a baby in the stable. That’s all. Nothing much ever happens around here.”
