Left Behind  The Movie, based on the best-selling book by Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye, was released Nov. 1 on video and in theatres Feb. 2, 2001. The movie stars Kirk Cameron (actor in the television show “Growing Pains”) as Buck Williams, a TV reporter who discovers that Christ has returned for believers and that he has been “left behind”. Ted Baehr, founder and chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission, attended a preview of the movie. He said, “Left Behind is the best movie made so far in the apocalyptic genre and has been crafted with a very careful, deft touch. It involves the audience. The characters are well drawn . . . It presents the gospel in a very entertaining, powerful, winsome way.” Left Behind  the Movie is the fourth installment by Peter and Paul Lalonde of Toronto who also produced Apocalypse, Revelation and Tribulation.
