In June, Dwight McFadden became marketing director of Ten Thousand Villages. Since 1993, he had been director of human resources for Mennonite Central Committee. He has a graduate degree in commerce from Notre Dame University, South Bend, Ind. Before joining MCC, he worked in marketing for two firms near Lancaster, Pa. He is an ordained pastor and recently completed a term as moderator of the Mennonite Church.
Charmayne Denlinger Brubaker is replacing McFadden as director of human resources for MCC. She has been director of MCCs Communications Department for 11 years. She has a masters degree in business administration from Penn State University and is a part-time professor of organizational development and management in the Eastern Mennonite University Lancaster campus adult degree completion program. She served with MCC in Bangladesh 1978-81. She is a board member for the General Conference Mennonite Churchs Division of General Services.
Sean Morton began serving as full-time pastor of worship and music ministries at Bakerview MB Church, Abbotsford, B.C., on June 1. He has a B.Mus. from the University of British Columbia and a diploma in theology from Western Pentecostal Bible College, Abbotsford. He is an accomplished guitarist and choral conductor. Previously, he served in worship ministry at Point Grey Community Church, Vancouver, Christian Life Assembly, Langley, B.C., and Calvary Temple, Kamloops, B.C., and was associate pastor at Comox (B.C.) Pentecostal Church. He was a member of the UBC University Singers and the UBC Guitar Quartet. He and his wife Tracey have one daughter, Mackenzie, 2.

Kelstern (Sask.) Community Church held a mortgage burning ceremony May 28. Calvin Penner, interim Saskatchewan MB Conference minister, and Rod Dick, moderator of the Saskatchewan MB Conference, joined the church in praising and worshipping God for His work in the church. A potluck dinner followed the service. In February 1998, the church took out a $30,000 15-year loan to finish its new building. The building committee wanted to have it paid off in 5-7 years. Two years later, however, the Church is debt free because of designated offerings and donations.
Tim Bartsch has resigned as youth and worship pastor at Cariboo Bethel Church in Williams Lake, B.C., effective at the end of August. He served as a pastoral intern in the church under the B.C. MB Conference Pastoral Apprenticeship program 1999-2000 before coming on staff in January. Previously, he served for nine months with a Youth Mission International TREK mobilization team in North America. He has a B.A. in Christian studies from Columbia Bible College, Abbotsford, B.C. He is married to Robin. They are planning to move to Abbotsford and are open to further ministry.

Coaldale (Alta.) MB Church held an ordination service for Larry and Joyce Thiessen on June 4. Since 1990, the Thiessens have been serving in the Philippines under Send International. In 1992 they were in Cabanatuan City, where a church has since been planted. The Thiessens were expected to return to the Philippines July 30, where they will be working under national leadership.
Stan Plett resigned as president of Steinbach (Man.) Bible College, effective April 28, due to health reasons. Plett joined the College in 1991 and became president in 1992. He will be available to the College in a consulting role. Don Thiessen has been appointed as interim president of the College.
Brian Elliot retired as director of Mennonite Central Committee Maritimes in July 2000, after serving 18 years with MCC Canada. Tom and Judy Snowden have replaced Elliot.
On Nov. 21, 1999 Hepburn (Sask.) MB Church baptized Will Dow, Michelle Jeschke and Salton Willems.
Daniel Genest was elected president of the French-speaking Alliance of Evangelical Protestants of Quebec (AFPEQ) during a meeting of its board of directors April 18.Genest is a former Mennonite Brethren pastor now serving as Quebec coordinator for the Mennonite Conference of Eastern Canada. He is also overseeing the planting of a church, the Communauté de Reconciliation, in Montreal. He replaces Roland Grimard, pastor of the Evangelical Baptist Church of Point-aux-Tremble. Grimard had served as president of AFPEQ since its founding in December 1996. Similar to the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, AFPEQ is the voice of the French-speaking evangelical Protestants in Quebec; it currently has 66 members, including 35 local congregations, 10 denominations, 11 organizations and 10 individuals.
