Wiebe, Dyck named to the Order of Canada


Rudy Wiebe, former MB Herald editor, was named an officer of the Order of Canada in July. Wiebe is a renowned author of several books, including The Temptation of Big Bear, Peace Shall Destroy Many, and his latest, which he co-authored with Yvonne Johnson, Stolen Life: The Journey of a Cree Woman. Wiebe is also a professor emeritus at the University of Alberta and was founding president of the Writers Guild of Alberta. He is a member of Lendrum MB Church in Edmonton.

Howard Dyck, host of CBC Radio’s “Saturday Afternoon at the Opera” and “Choral Concert”, was named a member of the Order of Canada. Dyck is a graduate of Mennonite Brethren Bible College in Winnipeg. Currently, he lives in Waterloo, Ont., and is conductor and artistic director of the Kitchener-Waterloo Philharmonic Choir. He is also co-founder and artistic director of Consort Caritatis Choir and Orchestra.
