Joe and Linda Harrison began serving as pastor couple at Orchard Valley Church, a church plant in Winfield, B.C., on June 1. Previously, they were associate pastor couple at an independent church in Regina for six years and taught at Christian Centre Academy in Saskatoon for six years. Joe was a youth pastor at First Baptist Church in Penticton, B.C. for one year. Joe has a B.Sc. from the University of British Columbia and is working toward an M.Div. from Canadian Theological Seminary in Regina. Linda has a B.A. from the University of Saskatchewan. The Harrisons have three children, Gordie, 8, Daniel, 5, and Kimberlee, 3.

Pierre Pellerin began serving as full-time pastor of Assemblée Chrétienne de Charlesbourg in Charlesbourg, Que., on June 1. Previously, he pastored the Brethren in Christ Church in Sherbrooke, Que. for 10 years, worked with a children’s camp in Bromont, Que. for four years, was director of Bethesda Citizen Home and was a church planter in Lennoxville, Que. with the Brethren in Christ for five years. He has a bachelor’s degree from Institut Biblique Bethel. He and his wife Claudette have three grown children.



Dave and Louise Sinclair-Peters completed their ministry as associate pastor couple at Cariboo Bethel Church in Williams Lake, B.C. at the end of April, after serving seven years. They are part of Team 2000, a 10-year mission to the unreached peoples of Thailand, under MBMS International. Dave has a B.A. from the University of Manitoba and an M.Div. from MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. Louise has a B.A. and an M.Div. from the University of Winnipeg. They have a foster daughter, Marissa, 19, and four children, Kyla, 8, Micah, 6, Grace, 4, and Sierra, 2.



Lorne Pearson became lead pastor of Eastview Community Church in Winnipeg on May 5. He was associate pastor of the church for two years and prior to that was a part-time lay minister at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Selkirk, Man. for 14 years. He has a family farm near Clandeboye, Man. He has a diploma in agriculture from the University of Manitoba. He and his wife Jennifer have two sons, Matthew, 18, and Zachary, 13.



Vic Loewen has resigned as part-time associate pastor at Scott Street MB Church in St. Catharines, Ont., effective June 30, after serving six-and-a-half years. Previously, he was an elementary school principal and high school teacher, including 27 years at Eden Christian High School. He has a B.A. from McMaster University, a B.Th. from MB Bible College and an M.A. from Niagara University in Niagara Falls, N.Y. He and his wife Marian have three children and five grandchildren.

Jason Unruh will become youth pastor at Parliament Community Church in Regina this fall. Since September 1999, he has been serving a pastoral internship at Foam Lake (Sask.) Gospel Fellowship. He has a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies and a B.A. in strategic ministry from Millar College of the Bible, Pambrun, Sask. This spring, he was baptized at Foam Lake. He is engaged to Laura Giesbrecht, who has a diploma from Millar College of the Bible. She is from Hays, Alta. They are planning to be married on Sept. 9.

On May 15, Bruce Enns began serving as college and career/youth pastor at Forest Grove Community Church in Saskatoon. For the past year-and-a-half, he has taught at the University of Calgary, coached and done finish carpentry in Calgary. He was director of athletics and recreation at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, B.C. 1991-98. He has a B.R.E. from Columbia Bible College, a B.A. from Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C. and a master’s degree from the University of Saskatchewan. He and his wife Lisa have three children, Keli, 7, Jodi, 5, and Hannah, 2.

Doug and Naomi Enns are completing nine years of pastoral ministry at Saanich Community Church in Victoria this summer. They will become senior pastor couple at McIvor Ave. MB Church in Winnipeg this fall. They were associate pastor couple at Elmwood MB Church in Winnipeg 1986-91. Doug has a B.R.E. from Briecrest Bible College in Caronport, Sask., a B.A. from Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C. and an M.A. from MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. Naomi has a B.N. from California State University of Fresno. They have three children, Joshua, 11, Rebekah, 9, and Hannah, 7.

Dave and Colleen Heinrichs have accepted a call to be associate pastor couple of young families and small groups at Portage Ave. MB Church, Winnipeg, effective July 9. Previously, he was associate pastor at Brookswood Baptist Church, Langley, B.C. for four years, was interim associate pastor at Fort Langley Evangelical Free Church for two years and was an intern youth pastor at Mountain Park Community Church in Abbotsford, B.C. for one year. He studied for one year at Winkler (Man.) Bible Institute and has a B.R.S. from MB Bible College in Winnipeg and an M.Div. from Canadian Baptist Seminary (ACTS) in Langley, B.C.



David Chow has been serving as summer ministries coordinator at Yarrow (B.C.) MB Church under the B.C. MB Conference Pastoral Apprenticeship program since May 1. He has studied at the University of Calgary and A.B. Simpson Graduate School in Redding, Calif., and is a student at MB Biblical Seminary (ACTS) in Langley, B.C. He and his wife Charlene are members of Dalhousie MB Community Church in Calgary.

Linda Schwartz-Trivett has accepted a position as dean of the Faculty of Professional Studies and Performing Arts at Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C., effective Jan. 1, 2001. Her portfolio includes the departments of teacher education, human kinetics, music, theatre, art, communications and applied linguistics. Schwartz has served as music department coordinator at Concord College in Winnipeg since 1995 and was a music department faculty member of MB Bible College since 1985. She has a B.Mus. from the University of Manitoba School of Music and an M.Mus. from the University of Western Ontario in London. She is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Minnesota. Recently, she was awarded a dissertation fellowship from the University of Manitoba, where she is completing her doctoral work in interdisciplinary studies.

Scott St. MB Church in St. Catharines, Ont. commissioned four of its members for missions May 28. Lotti Fast will be serving two years with Youth With A Mission in Israel, where she will be working with Muslim people, particularly women and children. Lisa Regehr will be teaching at the School of the Bible in Tyler, Tex. through Youth With A Mission. Hans and Trudy Hiebert have accepted a call to pastor a Low German-speaking church of Mexican Mennonites in Sublette, Kan., effective in September, under the Evangelical Mennnonite Mission Conference.



Tamara Fleming and Rick McCutcheon are moving to Baghdad, Iraq to direct Mennonite Central Committee’s work there for one year. They will replace Carmen Pauls, who has represented MCC in Iraq for the last year. Fleming and McCutcheon will monitor shipments of food aid, assist with hospital and school reconstruction and distribute school kits. McCutcheon is an assistant professor in conflict resolution studies and international development on leave from Menno Simons College in Winnipeg. Fleming has a degree in conflict resolution from Menno Simons College.



Orchard Valley Church, an MB church plant in Winfield, B.C., set a new record for attendance with 112 people, including about 40 children ages 0-10, on Easter Sunday. The church was expecting only about 60-70 people. Some extra elements were added to the worship service: an upbeat secular song, a music video, a short drama and the Kidzone children singing an Easter song. John Baergen, from The International Centre for Leadership Development and Evangelism in Winfield, shared on “Hope in a World of Disappointment”. The gospel was presented. The gathering started at 9:30 a.m. with a brunch followed by the worship service at 10:00 a.m. By 9:45, more chairs had to be set up. Tables on loan from Willow Park MB Church in Kelowna were set up in the gym of a former elementary school where the church meets.
