Kamloops, B.C.
Director resigns

Bert Kamphuis resigned as director of New Life Mission in Kamloops, B.C. in early June after confessing to sexual moral failure. New Life Mission is a multifaceted nondenominational mission which includes alcoholic recovery homes, a thrift store, a soup kitchen and a shelter for the homeless; it has significantly expanded its ministry under Kamphuis’s direction, including the construction of a new ministry centre. Before coming to the Mission, Kamphuis served as a Mennonite Brethren pastor for a number of years in Abbotsford, B.C. and Vernon, B.C. The Board of Pastoral Ministries of the B.C. MB Conference has withdrawn his licence and affirmation of ministry. Valleyview Bible Church (his home church), New Life Mission and the B.C. MB Conference are consulting and deciding on recovery and restoration processes and resources. They request prayer for Bert and his wife Heather.
