The 25th edition of Halleys Bible Handbook is a revision of the original handbook featuring a new section of Bible study tips, updated archaeological facts and a rewritten section of Jewish and church history. The book, now comprised of 1134 pages, has new charts, photographs and maps and uses the New International Version of the Bible. Author Henry H. Halley (1874-1965) began handing out 16-page booklets of Suggestions Concerning Bible Study 75 years ago at his lectures. It was expanded to 144 pages and called Halleys Pocket Bible Handbook. Halley then added archaeological data, a summary of church history, photographs and maps. In the 1950s, it was translated into several languages. By 1960, one million copies had been sold. Since then, about six million copies have been sold. Zondervan News Service
Front-page coverage of religion news in the US has remained unchanged since the 1960s. Recently, Religion Newswriters Association compared several weeks reporting in 10 mainstream dailies from 1963-64 with similar coverage 35 years later. In 1999, these papers from Fresno, Houston, Las Vegas, Macon, Memphis, Richmond, St. Louis, Topeka, Cleveland and Wilmington, gave from 1-4% of front-page space to religion. Religion will only make front-page news if there are newsworthy (not public relations) events. Sightings
