I Corinthians 12:14-26

It wasnt a very promising piece of material washed-out purple with a rather wrinkly texture but there was quite a lot of it, and it was strong. The ladies decided to cut it up anyway. Quilt squares are quilt squares.

When it came time to lay out a blanket top, all the mauve-related pieces were put together. There was enough of this wimpy-looking, washed-out purple to alternate between a shocking bright turquoise print and hot pink, flowered material that reminded us of Hawaii. Did you ever need something plain to neutralize the effect of these bright colours! The unpromising, washed-out purple just fit the bill. What a beautiful blanket top this was going to be!

Do you sometimes feel faded or nondescript, doing ordinary, footwashing things? Or has God perhaps teamed you up with someone very colourful and full of charisma? Take heart. Our Divine Artisan has put you there to counteract the effect of your eye-catching mate or colleague. God needs your unglamorous serving gifts too. They give needed balance and stability.
Reflections is a column of brief reflections on Scripture passages. This one is by Elfrieda Dick of Calgary, Alta. Freelance submissions (200-250 words in length) are welcome.
