Previous | Next Winnipeg, Man. New associate director of evangelism named

The Canadian MB Conference Board of Evangelism has appointed Bruce Elwood as the new associate director of evangelism, effective Sept. 1.

Elwood joins Ewald Unruh, executive director of the Board of Evangelism. While Elwood will assist church pastors and lay leaders in strategies to build stronger lay-driven ministries focused on discipleship and evangelism, Unruh will continue to give overall direction to the Board of Evangelism, specifically the efforts of church planting, including the Key Cities Initiatives.

Previously, Elwood was director of Conferences at the International Centre for Leadership Development and Evangelism based in Winfield, B.C. This Canadian-based ministry (previously known as the Charles E. Fuller Institute) specializes in leadership development training for pastors and lay leaders on topics related to church health. He has developed some of the largest training events in Canada through partnerships with Carl George, John Maxwell (Injoy), the Willow Creek Association, Leadership Network, and other international speakers.

Elwood has a B.A. degree from Wheaton (Ill.) College and has done graduate studies in education.

For the past several years Elwood has been actively involved in Garden Valley Community Church in Kelowna, B.C. He and his wife Terri are currently involved in the leadership team of Orchard Valley Church, a new MB church plant in the Winfield/Lake Country (B.C.) area. They have two children, Alexis, 7, and Adam, 6.

This new position is furthering the Conferences vision to see more healthy growing churches reaching the world for Christ.

Elwood can be contacted at btelwood@mbconf.ca or at the Evangelism Canada office at (204) 669-6575.
